Hypothesizes' Flashcards
Null hypothesis
Needs to state whether there is a significant difference or if there isn’t a significant difference…. any difference will be due to chance.
Example of null hypothesis
There will be no significant difference in aggression scores out of 100 between participants who watch 5 hours of violent TV shows per week and participants who watch 5 hours of prosocial TV per week and any difference will be due to chance.
Non-directional hypothesis
There is a difference but don’t state the direction.
Example of non-directional hypothesis
There will be a significant difference in aggression scores out of 100 between participants who watch 5 hours of prosocial TV per week.
Directional hypothesis
Tells you the direction of the difference.
Example of directional hypothesis
Particpants who watch 5 hours of violent TV per week will score significantly higher on aggression test out of 100 then participants who watch 5 hours of prosocial TV per week.
