- Cuff size
- Bladder width (2 thirds shoulder-elbow length)
- Bladder length (80% circumference)
- After 5 mins rest
- Position
- Sitting w arm at level of heart (children)
- Supine (infant)

Why is a correctly fitting cuff important?
A
Cuff too big = Lower reading
Cuff to small = Higher reading

What are the possible predisposing factors for primary (essential) hypertension?

- High BMI
- Excessive salt intake
- Lack of exercise
- Fam Hx
Primary HTN is a diagnosis of exclusion.
