Treatment for hyperaldosteronism

A

adrenalectomy to remove tumor- high dose corticosteroids given during and after surgery

Preop: 
K sparing diuretic
Antihypertensives
Potassium supp
Na restrictions
High protein diet

Post op:

  • Inc. risk hemorrhage
  • Instabilities in BP, fluids, electrolytes

Dehydration/Hypotension

Pruritis (itchy)
