Contrast bath

Warm water temp= 100-110
Cold water temp= 50-64

Used for: chronic edema, subacute edema, PVD, sinus congestion.

Effects are improved circulation via vasodilation/vasoconstriction and pain relief.

Contraindications
Excessive bleeding and maceration.

Precautions:
Impaired thermal sensation, infection in area, confusion, recent skin grafts or new granulation tissue.

Full body immersion

Aquatic pool or WP Hubbard tank

A

Contraindications:
Excessive bleeding, maceration,cardiac instability, infectious conditions, bowel incontinence, epilepsy or suicidal pts.

Precautions: local immersion ones plus, after alcohol consumption, limited strength, UI, fear of water, respiratory problems,
*in hot very hot water: pregnancy, MS, poor thermal regulators.
