Mgt of hydrocephalus

Answer 4

Definitive mgt:- surgery VP/VA shunt; doc- Acetazolamide - csf production decreased

1st line:

1. Head end elevation
2. Controlled hyperventilation to reduce ict
3. Osmotic diuretics - mannitol, 3% NS
4. Sedative - barbiturates

2nd line

1. Decompressive craniectomy
2. Induced coma/hypothermia
3. Therapeutic CSF drainage
