Hydraulics Flashcards
What is the meaning of an illuminated hydraulic SYS PRESS light?
The respective system has low pressure.
What is the meaning of an illuminated RSVR light?
Respective reservoir quantity or pressure is low. An additional EICAS message displays providing guidance on which caution is in effect.
What is the normal indication for a full Hydraulic System reservoir?
On the secondary EICAS indicator (Status Display) the HYD QTY reads 1.00.
What status page indication is displayed when the hydraulic reservoir requires servicing?
The letters “RF” are displayed next to the hydraulic fluid quantity indication.
What is the meaning of an illuminated pump “PRESS” light?
The pump output pressure is low.
What is the meaning of an illuminated pump “OVHT” light?
The pump temperature is high.
Which components are powered by all three hydraulic systems?
The Flight Control System.
Which components are powered by the left hydraulic system?
Flight controls, flaps and slats, landing gear, alternate brakes, nose wheel steering, left engine thrust reverser, hydraulic driven generator, main cargo door.
Which hydraulic system powers high load components (flaps, slats, gear & stering)?
Left
Which hydraulic system normally supplies pressure to the Alternate Brakes?
Left
What is the purpose of the L Hydraulic System reserve fluid?
Provides fluid to the power transfer unit if the left engine fails or left engine driven pump pressure is low. It will provide power to the flaps/slats, landing gear, nose wheel steering and hydraulic driven generator (if installed).
Which components can be powered by the Power Transfer Unit (PTU)
Flaps/Slats, Landing Gear, Nose Wheel Steering and Hydraulic Driven Generator (if installed).
When will the PTU automatically operate?
If the left engine fails or the left engine driven pump output pressure is low.
Which Hydraulic System usees 2 electric motor driven pumps?
Center
Which system is powered by the Center Hydraulic System?
Flight Controls
What is the purpose of the C Hydraulic System reserve fluid?
Fluid for the RAT.
Which hydraulic system is powered by the RAT?
The Center System (Flight Controls)
What causes the RAT to automatically deploy in flight?
A dual engine failure.
How can the RAT be manually deployed?
By pressing the RAT switch.
What is the meaning of an illuminated green “PRESS” light in the RAT switch?
The RAT is deployed and producing hydraulic pressure to the C HYD system.
Which systems are powered by the Right Hydraulic system?
Flight conctrols, Normal & Reserve Brakes, Right Engine Thrust Reverser and Power Transfer Unit.
Which hydraulic system normally supplies pressure to the Normal Brakes?
Right
What is the reserve fluid in the right reservoir used for?
Reserve Brakes (in case of leak)
