Hydraulics Flashcards
How many hydraulic pumps are installed?
6
2 engine driven pumps
2 direct current motor pumps. DCMP
ONE AUXILIARY PUMP
one PTU
At what pressure does the hydraulic system normally operate?
3000 PSI
What is a PTU?
Power transfer unit
During what conditions does the PTU operate?
Left hydraulic pump failure
Airborne
Gear disagree
From where does the PTU obtain pressure?
The right side hydraulic system
What does the PTU power?
Gear and hydraulic motor driven generator (HMDG)
How much fluid do the left and right reservoirs contain?
Left 13 quarts
Right 9 quarts
Why is there more fluid in the left reservoir than in the right?
Need more fluid to work landing gear system
What primary flight controls our hydraulically powered?
All of them except the ailerons
What type of hydraulic fluid is used in the challenger 350 aircraft?
Phosphate Ester fire resistant
Skydrol LD4
Hyjet 4 A plus
From where do the left and right DCMP’s obtain power?
Right DCMP. - left ESS BUS
LEFT DCMP- right main bus station
Are normal brakes still operational in the event of a left and right hydraulic failure?
Yes because of the accumulators
What is the purpose of the AUX hydraulic pump?
In case of right hydraulic failure allows control of Rudder with lower rudder PCU
Are all the multifunctional Spoilers operative after a right hydraulic system failure?
No
Outboard flight spoilers are no longer operative
What is the main purpose of the PTU ?
To retract the gear in the event of a left engine driven pump failure
