Hyadraulics components Flashcards
Hydraulic System Main Component
Reservoirs •Pumps •Filters •Actuators •Valves •Seals •Lines and Fitting
Define Reservoirs
the component that stores an adequate amount of
fluid for the operational requirements of the
hydraulic system including fluid lost to leakage
Types of Hydraulic Pump
engine driven
•electric motor driven
•air driven
•hydraulically drive
Define Filters
is a screening or straining device used to
clean the hydraulic fluid, preventing foreign
particles and contaminating substances from
remaining in the system.
Define Actuator
An actuating cylinder transforms energy in
the form of fluid pressure into mechanical force, or
action, to perform work.
Valves Categories
-flow control valves:
control the route of the hydraulic fluid, control the volume of flow of the hydraulic fluid
-pressure control valves:
adjust, limit or regulate the system pressure
Selector Valves
A selector valve is used to control the direction
of movement of a hydraulic actuator or
similar device.
when the selector valve is neutral is
Hydraulic lock-no actuator movement
what is a Single Acting Actuator System
An single acting actuator uses hydraulic
pressure for movement in only one direction
and spring force for its return.
what is Double Acting Actuator System
A double acting actuator uses hydraulic
pressure for movement in both directions.
The selector valve allows fluid from the
hand pump to go to one side of the
actuator cylinder to lower the landing gear.
Fluid on the other side of the actuator
piston returns through the selector valve
to the reservoir.
Open Center Hydraulic System
An open center system is one having fluid flow,
but no pressure in the system when the selector
(directional control) valves are in neutral.-mostly series
Closed-Center Hydraulic Systems
In the closed-center system, the fluid is under pressure whenever the hydraulic pump is operating.-valves arrange in parallel
Power Pack System consist of ?
A hydraulic power pack generally consists of
a reversible DC motor driven gear pump,
filter, reservoir, shuttle valve, gear up check
valve, high and low pressure control valves,
and a thermal relief valve.
