Explain the difference between Sensitive and Classified Information
Sensitive: info that does not meet below criteria, but still requires control over its distribution
Classified: reasonable identifiable or describable damage to the nation if unauthorized disclosure
List 5 examples of materials that can be classified
- Documents
- Devices
- Photographs
- Recordings
- Notes
What 3 things are required to gain access to classified material?
- An adjudicated and appropriate Security Clearance
- A signed Non-Disclosure (NDA)
- Valid Need-to-Know
Confidential
Unauthorized disclosure brings damage to national security
Secret
unauthorized disclosure brings serious damage to national security
Top Secret
unauthorized disclosure brings exceptionally grave damage to national security
What are the 3 categories of classified information?
- Collateral
- Sensitive compartmented info (SCI)
- Special access program (SAP)
What are the 3 required markings that must appear on a classified document?
- Overall Page Marking
- Portion Marking
- Classification Authority Block
What are the destruction requirements for Secret information?
One cleared person
Note: Records of destruction not required
What are the destruction requirements for Top Secret information?
- Destruction records and two-person rule is mandatory
- AF Form 143 to record destruction
- Records kept for minimum of 2 years
