The river Mississippi flood plain was the area affected. The land is very low and therefore is very easily and quickly flooded.
Everybody was told to evacuate.

150 mph winds.
How high did sea levels rise?
The sea level rose up to 30ft, and the waves were higher.
What order were police given?
Police were given the order shoot to kill for looters.
How many died?
1836 people died
Damage costs?
$100 billion damage
What category was the storm?
Katrina was a category 5 storm- the 6th strongest ever recorded and the third strongest to make a landfall.
Did they see it coming?
They did seen it coming- spotted on August 23rd and became a category on 28th.
