Huntingdon field work Flashcards
what were the types of data collection
photograph, land survey, people count, questionnaire
how did you collect data, why is it useful and what were the limitations, of a photograph
a phone, gives a clear view, can’t take a picture of everything
how did you collect data, why is it useful and what were the limitations, of a land use survey
wrote places down on the map, gives us a rough knowledge of. the shops in the area, might’ve missed or not labelled places in the area
how did you collect data, why is it useful and what were the limitations, of a people count
counted how many people went in and out, quick and easy to do, some may have gone a different direction after we had seen them
how did you collect data, why is it useful and what were the limitations, of a questionnaire
spent tie in the lesson to come up with questions to ask public, tells you what people do in the town etc, might not get a variety or answers.
what is good about using a located bar graph map to show your data
clear and easy to read, doesn’t show how many people are going too and from the centre, summarize a large data set in visual form.
what are the limitations of a located bar graph map
don’t know how many people are included in the count, require additional explanation, fail to reveal key assumptions, causes, effects, or patterns
what is good about using a pie chart to represent your data
simple to read, narrows it down, display relative proportions of multiple classes of data, require minimal additional explanation
what are limitations of pie chart
not much detail, don’t have exact values, can be miss leading, easier to read a bar graph, might not have enough space
what have you analysed from people count map
zone two was the biggest attraction as it had all the major magnet stores there. also located where the biggest car parks where, close to other facilities across the street like doctors
what have you analysed from the pie chart
charts shows most people travel here by foot also shows most people come here every week. this is because there are clothes, food shops etc
conclusion - is Huntingdon a thriving town centre
yes as lots of people come here daily if not weekly there are also lots of magnet stores like cafes and Greggs as well as big chain stores such as Sainsbury’s. this shows the town centre is making lots of money of here as all shops are staying open and there’s lots of land space for these shops.
what health and safety pre actions were needed
don’t go off by yourself, meeting point in town, safety number, take care when crossing roads.
how would you improve this project
use technology to collect data, have bigger sample size, different time or days
