Hundred Days

A

Napoleon returned from Elba after he saw allied disagreement over the Peace of Paris and the unpopularity of Louis XVIII.

He landed with 1000 men on March 1 1815. Troops sent to confront him, under Marshall Ney, joined him. By 20 March Napoleon was back in place.

Napoleon raised an army of 140,000 and 200,000 in reserve rapidly and had success against the Prussians. He sent his subordinate, Gouchy, to prevent a link-up with the British.

18 June - Napoleon could not break the British defences. Gouchy failed to stop the Prussians, and they joined with Britain before defeating Napoleon
