Q

What are the two arguments supporting humes claim about complex and simple ideas.

A

No matter how complex an idea it can always be traced back to a simple impression, such as the golden mountain.

Somebody lacking a sense loses the associated concepts or ideas. This is due to the lack of impression with this sense, such as a blind man not seeing colour.
This works with functioning senses, a Laplander cannot conceptualise the taste of wine.

Q

Describe the distinction Hume makes between perceptions of the mind.

A

Impressions and ideas.

Ideas are dependent on impressions.

The liveliest thought is always less vivid than the dullest sense experience unless we are mad or ill.

Being angry and thinking about my anger later are very different, memory dulls our experiences.
