- When and where did the industrial revolution originate?
began in Britain in the late 1700s
- What is the agricultural revolution? What made it such a success?
The agricultural revolution was a necessity for the growing population so there was a demand for higher amounts of foods. Due to the high demand new machinery was invented to make farming new efficient. There were 3 things to make farming more efficient,
- Crop rotation - Enclosed land
- Seed drill
- What industries did children work during the industrial revolution? Why did they have children doing these jobs?
children worked in textile factories, coal mines, gas works, construction sites, shipyards and chimney sweeping. They were good workers as they were cheap, expendable and able to fit in small areas
what is Urbanisation
Urbanisation is the increase in the proportion of people living in towns and cities.
define overseer
a person who supervises others, especially workers
the black lung
the black lung is a disease black lung caused by long exposure to coal dust, many children who worked in the coal mines caught this disease.

The democratic process is a process which the general public votes for a party to represent them and make decisions on their behalf

Enclosures –
The open land was divided into small fields and hedges and fences were put around them. Everyone had their own fields and could use them how they wished.

Landowners - Labourers - Tenant Farmers

Smallholders – Landless Labourers
Crop rotation –
Barley to Clover and ryegrass to feed the cattle and sheep to wheat to turnips for feeding cattle to Barley again.
Seed Drill -
Invented by Jethro Tull and was extremely useful and was used to plant seeds in a straight line andcover them with soil. This resulted in more land being farmed and resulted in improved crop organisation.
