Humanistic approach Flashcards
What is the humanistic approach?
Humanistic psychology is an approach that emphasises the study of the whole person and sees people as being active in their own development. It is a person-centred approach, which views every individual as unique and regards to personal growth and fulfilment in life as basic human motive
What is free will?
Humans are able to make their own decisions and are not determined by biological or elemental factors
What is the hierarchy of needs?
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a theory of human motivation. The needs are presented in a five-level sequence, where you have to meet the basic needs to reach the higher psychological needs. The last stage is self-actualisation and the first stage is physiological.
