Human rights
Rights which are believed to belong and apply to every person
Human Rights Act
UK law which protects the rights of individuals and allows a challenge when these are breached
UN Declaration of Human Rights
A statement adopted by the UN to protect human beings in specific regards
Rights
What a person is entitled to eg. education
Responsibilities
Duties to act or behave in certains ways as a result of rights held by myself or others
Freedom or religion
The right to practice whatever religion one chooses
Freedom of expression
The power or right to express one’s opinions without censorship, restraint or legal penalty
Tolerance
Acceptance of difference rather than seeing it as a problem
Equality
State of being equal in status, right and opportunities
Prejudice
Preconceived opinion of someone without evidence or experience, usually based on race, gender or sexuality
Discrimination
Actions based on prejudice;treating someone differentlky because of their race, gender, sexuality
Ageism
Discrimination against someone because of their age
Racism
Discrimination against someone because of their race
Gender
Being male or female
Fair pay
Payment that is appropreate for the work that has been done
Ordination
Act of making someone a priest or minister; bestowing holy orders
Justice
Getting fairness; justifying unfairness
Sexuality
A person’s sexual orientation ie gay ,bi ,pansexual ,attack helicopter, ironing board
Homosexuality
Being sexually attracted to someone of the same gender as you
Harmony
Living together in society without conflict or argument
Poverty
Having less than the basic needs of life so that day to day life is difficult
Wealth
Money and possessions a person has, usually in such quantities that someone has a comfortable lifestyle
Compassion
Loving-kindness; attitude to help others simply because it is right to help
People trafficking
Illegal trade of humans for slavery;work or sex
Interest
Money paid back on loans aside from the original amount loaned
Loan
Amount of money borrowed from a lender usually paid back in installments with interest, Where excessive, the interest charged on the loan is extremely high(even unfairly so)
Social justice
Bring justice to society so that all within society have the same opportunities, and can take advantage of the, includes projects to improve the life situation of those at the poorest end of society, eg by educational support
Stewardship
the duty or responsibility of something or someone
Duty to look after the world given by God to humans which extends to looking after all life, including other humans
Community
Community
A group of people who share characteristics, eg the place that they live
Charity
Voluntary giving aid, financially or practically to help those in need
