A

I would ask my fellow peers in my class how they are studying, if we can study in groups to see what I’m missing in my studies, see how they’re studying so I can change my study habits, and I would also ask the ground instructor what he recommends on how I study to improve my status in class

A

20
Q

What makes a good captain?

A

Mentor
First and most important, a good Captain accepts the terrible responsibility of putting his skills and judgement towards keeping the souls of others safe. A good Captain knows the difference between leadership and management. You lead people, you manage systems. Standby all decisions to keep people safe, but be ready to compromise and admit when you make a mistake. The best Captain knows how to delegate authority and to listen to the advice of those under his/her command. He/she uses these assets to make the best decision under the circumstances. Be of such mettle that when things go wrong, all eyes are upon you, accept it, and take the initiative

A

mentor

22

A

Write it up and call maintenance

24
Q

You and the Captain are going to the aircraft for a trip that morning, he reeks of alcohol, what are you going do?

A

alk directly to Captain first try to talk him down (to call out sick) -if that doesn’t work next two options were recommended by interviewer: —you call out sick/ call out sick for the capt —contact the union
hey are looking for you to say something along the lines of - give him a way out before reporting him to management. Give him a chance to call in sick or something like that and if he still refuses then you can report him to management

25
Q

You are next to take off and you hear the Captain read-back

A

I would tell ATC, standby finishing up a checklist

26
Q

What would you do? You are an FO and are done with your preflight. Your Captain shows up with a buddy who is riding in the jumpseat and they are talking non-stop throughout all your checklists and taxi to the runway even though it should be “sterile”.

A

Kindly remind them of the policy

27
Q

What would you do if the captain was breaking procedures?

A

Remind him of the proper procedure. If he/she does not correct it, my next action depends on the seriousness of the offense

A

Explain the CR bust

30
Q

Tell me about any mistakes you have made while flying.

A

Trying to fly while sick

31
Q

What would you do if the captain was going to break a regulation?

A

I would question his actions first and make sure he realizes that he is breaking a regulation. If he is continuously doing it, I would tell him that I do not feel comfortable with that and I need to report it to management.

32
Q

What would you do if there was frost on the plane and the captain insisted on going?

A

Insist on waiting for the frost to melt, if available, de-ice the plane using a deicing truck. Wait for it to melt / postpone

33
Q

What would you do if you are holding short and discover that you’re 20 lbs below minimum takeoff weight?

A

Advise the captain and tell him we need to taxi back to the ramp. Contact ATC and do the same

34
Q

What would you do if your captain didn’t understand a clearance?

A

I said explain it to him. If he still doesn’t understand ask ATC to clarify. If he still doesn’t comply with clearance take the aircraft to avoid violating a regulation or causing safety concerns.

35
Q

What does attendance mean to you?

A

I said to me it meant showing up to work ready to perform duties and being present and involved with the company.

36
Q

What would you do if the captain doesn’t appear to be recognizing hold short instructions?

A
