what is fertilisation
if an egg is present in the fallopian tube the eggs join the egg cell
fertilisation to pregnancy
the fertilised eggs divide a number of times.the time groups of cells move down the fallopian tube to the uterus. the group of cells then bury themselves into the lining of the womb. implantation. once implantation has taken place the women is pregnant
describe pregnancy
after implantation the baby becomes surrounded by a membrane called the amnion. the membrane fills up with amniotic fluid. last 9 months
what is amnion
it is the membrane that surrounds the baby
what is the liquid that amnion fills up with
amniotic fluid
describes the plancenta
passes oxygen and food from the mother’s blood to the baby
passes waste products from the baby to the mother
allows harmful substances to pass into the mother to the baby
what is the umbilical cord
connects placenta to baby at the belly button
describe the birth
muscles in the uterus start to contract. these contractions are called labour.the contractions cause the amnions to burst. the cervix widen with the contractions. the baby is pushed head first out of teh womb and into the vagine. the umbilical cord is clamped and cut
describe the aftrerbirth
uterus contracts after baby is born.. the remains if the placenta is pushed out of the vagina
