Human Life Flashcards
What is the difference between sexual and asexual reproduction?
Asexual reproduction generates offspring that are genetically identical to a single parent. In sexual reproduction, two parents contribute genetic information to produce unique offspring.
Describe the journey of the sperm
*The sperm are released from the epididymis and travel along the vas deferens out of the penis through the urethra.
*Spermatozoa are deposited at the top of the vagina and swim through the cervix and along the lining of the uterus , into the oviduct, where they meet with the egg cell.
- They have to fight to get into the egg cell; first come first served, The nucleus will only let in one sperm before the corona radiata will close up and prevent more from coming in.
