What are economic activities?
How people earn a living and how wealth and money are produced both for individuals and countries.
Explain industry?
The way in which products and services are created and how the earth’s resources are utilized.
Primary sector
- the first stage in the production process1️⃣
- uses raw materials and basic food produce from the earth🌱🐟🪨⛏️
extracting and harvesting products
Characteristics of the primary sector
- products have a low economic value (must be processed to increase economic value)
- products are usually the raw materials for secondary econim activities
- must be transported to other places for further processing to increase economic value
Secondary sector
- processes and manufactures goods⚒️🧵
- includes activities such as: engineering, ship building, construction, producing textiles etc.
Characteristics of the secondary sector
- many of its raw resources are from the primary sector
- products have a higher economic value
- products can be a final product/parts of a final product
Tertiary sector
- it focuses on providing services related to businesses
- includes: government, healthcare, catering, transport etc.🏫⚖️🎤🚌
Characteristics of the tertiary sector
- people are seen as a resource
- involves making goods available to the final consumer
- (service related activites) have a high economic value
Quaternary Sector: the knowledge-based/information part of the economy
Examples of quaternary sector resources
culture, ecommerce (call centres), software and the Internet to transact business, scientific research (genetic engineering), writing/producing fiction films, inventions and design of products etc.
Quinary Sector: the highest levels of decision making in a society
Examples of quinary sector resources
the top executives or officials in various fields such as government, universities, science, the aeronautics industry and space research
