Human Factors Flashcards
symptoms of Hypoxia and how they differ to Carbon monoxide poisoning
Euphoria, Headache, drowsiness, impared ability. Carbon monoxide poisoning causes headaches, stomachaches, vomiting, chest pain and weakness.
types of hypoxia
Hypoxic, stagnent, histotoxic, hypemic.
hypoxic
high altitude. not enough o2.
stagnent
blood does not flow properly due to high G’s
Histotoxic
inability of cells to use o2
hypemic
CO blocks cells from uptaking O2
hyperventilation symptoms
similar symptoms to hypoxia.
spatial disorientation types
ICEFLAGS
Inversion-rapid climb to straight and level, think still climbing
Coriollis-prolonged turn, feel like still turning.
Elevator- sudden updraft, think in a climb
False horizon-confuse lights on the ground for stars and see a horizon that isnt there

scuba risks
could get the bends (nitrogen bubbles in blood)
if flying under 8000 ft or decompression diving wait 12 hrs
if flying over 8000 ft wait 24 hrs
what to do if notice spatial disorientation
trust instruments
descent to land and pax complain of pain in cheeks and eyebrows
Aerosinusitis. offer them a stick of gum or tell them to yawn.
alcohol
8 hours bottle to the throttle. no more than .04 BAC
drugs
never fly on drugs, over the top medication check with doctor
