  • pedestrianisation enhances retail, business services, increases safety and reduces congestion eg. Buchanan street
  • road network had been converted to a one way system allowing traffic to flow more quickly and reduce congestion.
  • bus and cycle lanes have been introduced to encourage people to use public transport
  • increased off road car parking(multi-storey car parks) reduces parking on roads which reduces congestion
  • renovation and refurbishment of city centre retailing eg. Buchanan galleries to improve retailing and compete with out of town centres like Braehead
