O/I: 3 mos/ 24 mos
STNR
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Place infant in crawling position and extend the head
R: Flex of hips & knees
Fx: Facilitate quadruped position in prep for crawling; breaks up total body extension
O/I: 4-6 mos/ 8-12 mos
NOB
Neck righting on body
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Place infant in supine & fully turn head to one side
R: Log rolling of entire body to maintain alignment w head
Fx: Faciliate rolling ; maintain body orientation in response to cervical position changes
O/I: 6 mos/ 5 years
BOB
Body righting on body
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: place infant in supine, flex one hip/knee towrd center of chest and hold briefly
R: Segmental rolling of upper trunk to maintain alignment
Fx: Promote** trunk & spinal rotation to facilitate sitting & quadruped** positions
O/I: 6 mos/ 5 years
Labyrinthine/ optical head righting
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Hold infant suspended vertically & tilt slowly (~45 deg) to side, forward, backward
R: Upright positioning of head
Fx: basis for head mngmt & postural stability; orients head in space vertically
O/I: birth-2 mos/ persists thru life
Downward parachute
(protective extension downward)
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Rapidly lower infant toward supporting surface while suspended vertically
R: Ext of LEs
Fx: Preps LEs for surface contact (ie standing); breaks a fall
O/I: 4 mos/ persists thru life
Forward parachute
(protective extension forward)
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Suddenly tip infant forward toward supporting surface while vertically suspended
R: Sudden ext of UEs, hand opening, and neck extension
Fx: Places UEs in anticipation of surface contact to break fall; supports prop sitting
O/I: 6-9 mos/ persists thru life
Sideward parachute
(protective extension sideward)
stim, resp, fx, onset/integration age
S: Quickly but firmly tip infant off-balance to side while in sitting position
