What is the HDI?
a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.
What does the HDI tell us about countries?
criteria for assessing the status of a country
What is mortality rate?
number of deaths scaled to the population
What is Gross National Income?
The measurement of the country’s income
What is life expectancy?
How long the average person lives for
What is literacy rate?
Total percentage of the population who can read and write.
What is infrastructure?
the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.
What is human development?
The science of understanding why people of all ages and circumstances change or remain the same over time
What is standard of living?
The degree of wealth and material comfort available to a person or community.
