Q

what ultimatly cause climate change?
what gas is the largest contributor to this?
How is this particular gas released?

A

greenhouse gasses are what ultimatly cause climate change and carbon dioxide is the largest contributor to all greenhouse gases at 76%
CO2 is released when focil fuels burn (industrial revolution)

Q

why is deforistation a further human cause of climate change?

A

trees store the CO2 that we breath out but when we chop them down there are less to do this job. Moreover somtimes when trees are chopped down they are burned and this just releases the CO2 they were stoaring back into the atmosphere

Q

Nitrous oxide also contributes to greenhouse gases.
what is it more effective at doing than CO2 and how long does it take to be removed from the atmosphere?

A

Nitrous oxide is 200-300 times more effective in trapping heat than CO2
It takes around 114 years to be removed from the atmosphere

Q

what does FERTILISER contain that makes farming a human cause of climate change?
what are these good and bad for

A

fertiliser contains NITROGEN COMPOUNDS which are good for plant growth but when they react with oxygen they produce nitrous oxide

a growing population results in more pressure on farmers who may have to rely more heavily on fertilisers to grow crops

Q

Methane also contributes to Greenhouse gases through landfil sites.
why is this?
what percentage of methane produced is generated by our waste

A

This is becuase decomposing waste produced methane
around 11% of methane produced is generated by our waste?
