Pathogen:
disease producing agent-viruses, bacteria and others.
Infectious disease:
a disease resulting from the presence and activity of a pathogenic microbial agent
Carrier:
a person infected with a pathogen-but displays no symptom of the disease
Host:
an organism(not necessarily human) that harbors a disease or the pathogens that cause a disease
Disease vector:
an agent(person, animal or microorganism) that carries an infectious agent and transmits it to another organism
Endemic:
a disease that remains with a specific population-usually in a steady state
Epidemic:
a disease that substantially exceeds what is expected-often regional
Pandemic:
epidemic that becomes very widespread-to other countries or continents
Virulence:
a pathogens ability to cause disease-the severity of its ability to cause illness.
