explain ALARP
making sure a risk has been reduced ALARP is about weighing the risk against the sacrifice needed to further reduce it. e.g spending £1m to make sure 5 workers don’t bruise their knees is not reasonable. Spending £1m to prevent their deaths is.

Eliminate Substitute Control - isolate / remove people from process / Barrier / etc) Mitigate - make safe by other means Protect - Train and protection
