Use of exogenous oestrogens when endogenous secretion is absent

What are some contraindications for giving HRT?
Breast/Endometrial Cancer
HTN, MI
VTE
Trombophilia - very important to screen
What are the different hormone regimens of HRT that you can give?
Oestrogen only (if Pt has had hysterectomy)
Oestrogen + Progesterone (with intact uterus)
If Pt is perimenopausal, which HRT should she get?
Cyclical HRT
Periods have to be absent for over a year for it to be considered menopause
When would a Pt be allowed to have a continuous HRT?
- Been on cyclical for a year
- They are postmenopausal
- They are 2 years post premature menopause
If Pt is suffering from menopause related uro symptoms?
Topical oestrogens
Cream/pessary
