How to make a standard solution Flashcards
What is the first step?
= calculate the mass needed
= using moles: mass/mr
= concentration: mass(moles)/volume
= place weighing bottle on balance at zero
= add the mass of the solution to the balance around the mass and re-weigh the bottle and the mass
What is the second step?
= transfer to a clean 250cm^3 beaker=
= re-weigh the empty bottle and record
= add about 50cm^3 of distilled water and stir until dissolved
= pour the contents into a volumetric flask- make the volumetric flask up to the mark using distilled water using a pippeye fpr small amounts
What do we wash?= wash the beaker, glass rod and funnel with distilled water and add to the volumetric flask
= wash the beaker, glass rod and funnel with distilled water and add to the volumetric flask
What is the third step?
= = place a stopper on the flask, invert the flask to make sure it is mixed
How do we calculate the concentration?
= using the
= mass and volume
