Tracking vertically with pen or finger when speed reading. To improve focus and not lose what line you are on.
What is questioning?
Prepping yourself before speed reading with questions like:
What is this text about?
What are the central themes?
What is the central thesis?
Who wrote it?
What does it mean to avoid sub-vocalizing?
To take in the meaning of the words without mentally pronouncing them.
What is active reading?
Reading with the intent to learn and retain information.

4 tips to achieve active reading
- Prime your brain for learning - skim and get an overview
- Use your hands - take physical notes
- Teach yourself - Feynman, free recall directly after reading.
- Take breaks.

- Consolidating information in a different mode. Verbal / visual.
