Blood Stains
Liquid pools:
- picked up using clean sterile cloth and allow it to dry it thoroughly
- send it immediately if the crime scene was held close to the laboratory
Dried blood stains:
- Wrapped in clean paper, placed in a brown paper bag or box and seal and label the container.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WIPE DRIED STAINS FROM AN OBJECT
Hair, Fibres and Threads
Use tweezers or fingers to collect hair present and place it within coin envelopes which then be folded and sealed in large envelopes.
Label the outer sealed envelope.
Glass
Objects contaminated with glass must be wrapped in a clean paper and submitted to the laboratory for further investigation.
Glass found in hit-and-run scenes must be recovered and if they were found in different locations, they must be stored in different sealed containers.
Tool marks
Submit the whole object containing tool marks to the laboratory.
