Describe what happened in the March election.

A

The Nazi vote increased from 33.1% to 43.9%. He still didn’t have the two thirds majority he needed. The SA celebrated with violence. Hitler appealed to stop the SA to avoid undermining support.

Describe what happened the day of Potsdam in March.

A

During the election, there was some violence amongst the SA. Hitler had to seem peaceful and assure them he wasn’t violent. He acted composed and respectful and gained support. (This created the Volksgemeinschaft.)

Describe what happened on March 23rd to the Enabling Act

A

The act passed 444 to 94. Communists were not allowed to attend. There were Nazi banners. The SPD was the only party to oppose. Hitler could now rule without Reichstag and create a one party state.
