Social issues, Economical issues, Political issues.
S - What happened in 1917?
27% of convictions were 14-18 y/olds.
Youths and widows searching for jobs to provide for families.
Traditional authority thought there was a decline when youths had more freedom.
S - What happened in 1918?
Germans thought they would win the war, but didn’t.
S - What happened in 1933?
Ex soldiers were given permission for street armies to keep order.
E - Describe the economical issues.
Germany took blame for causing war. Could not keep troops or build navy/airforce. FOod prices increased - hyperinflation. Money had to be printed.
E - How much money did Germany have to pay?
£6 billion.
E - What treaty was signed that meant that Germany was forced to pay the money?
Treaty of Versailles.
P - Describe the political issues.
Monarch had to give up their throne. Weimar republic was born after war and associated with defeat - believed to be too passive.
P - Name the two main parties rising at the time.
Nazi party. Spartacist league.
P - Describe what happened to the Nazi Party.
They became popular. Upper class didn’t want lower class to be able to vote.
P - Describe what happened to the Spartacist league.
Tried to seize Berlin - they were left wing while Berlin was right. Scared it would lead to revolution. Party leaders murdered and power returns to Berlin.
Describe the legacy.
Versailles treaty was a national humiliation. Hitler gave Germany hope.
