is unending process of learning through our own experiences or through institutions we have in our communities.
SOCIALIZATION
Collection of people who are in the same place at the same time but who otherwise do not necessarily interact, except in the most superficial of ways, or have anything else in common.
Social Aggregate
Collection of individuals who have at least one attribute in common but otherwise do not necessarily interact. Ex: Women
Social Category
Consists of two or more people who regularly interact on the basis of mutual expectations and who share a common identity.
Social Group
is usually
small, characterized by extensive interaction and strong
emotional ties, and endures over time.
primary group
groups that are larger and more impersonal and exist, often for a relatively short time, to achieve a specific purpose.
Secondary groups
a group that sets a standard for guiding our own behavior and attitudes. A group to which we do not belong but to which we nonetheless want to belong.
Reference group
a group that someone belongs to, and believes it to be an integral part of who he/she is.
In-group
is a group someone doesn’t belong to.
Out-group
The totality of relationships that link us to other people and groups and through them to still other people and groups. Some are of weaker or stronger bonds.
Networks
may prompt people
to conform with the judgments or behavior of a group because they do not want to appear different.
