How Organ Systems Communicate Flashcards
Define stimulus.
A stimulus causes a response which can be chemical, cellular, and behavioral.
What stimulus gets responses from?
The nervous/endocrine system.
What does the nervous system control?
- Thoughts.
- Movement.
- Emotions.
What does the endocrine control?
- Growth.
- Development.
- Digestion.
Define the Central Nervous System (CNS).
The CNS interprets messages from other nervous in the body and stores some of the messages for later use.
What does the Central Nervous System (CNS) includes?
The CNS that includes the brain and spinal cord.
Define Peripheral Nervous Systems (PNS).
It’s a network of nerves that transmits messages to the CNS and from the CNS to the organs.
Define the nervous system.
An interconnected network of cells that works quickly and uses chemical/electrical signals.
How might a clogged blood vessel affect the endocrine system?
It will slow dows deliverance.
How might a clogged blood vessel affect the nervous system?
Blocks the O2 from the brain.
What are the similarities between the nervous/endocrine system?
They both send signals to respond to stimulus maintenance homestatis.
Define the endocrine system.
A slower and disconnected system that controls the growth and development.
What’s the connection between pancreas & liver.
The blood.
Do a cycle diagram of when the glucose is high.
It goes to the pancreas to the insulin to the liver.
Define the insulin.
The insulin is a hormone: fatty acids & glycerol.
