How Does Our Blood Circulate Through The Body? Flashcards
1
Q
How are arteries, veins and capillaries
similar and different structurally?
A
Arteries - three layers, very flexible, small lumen for higher blood pressure, no need for valves.
Viens - three layers, a bit flexible, large lumen and low blood pressure, need for valves for no backflow
Capillaries - one layer, not flexible, tiny lumen, weird blood flow, no valves.
2
Q
What is the function of each blood vessel?
A
Artery → artrioles → capillaries → venuoles → veins
3
Q
What is blood pressure and how is it
measured?
A
diastolic - (relaxed artery) pressure over systolic (contracted artery) pressure
