What happens during the third reading
Third reading is the final chance to debate the contents of a Bill
What happens when one house goes through all the stages
it gets sent to the other house for them to go through all the stages
What happens if the second house makes changes to the bill
It will be sent back to the first house for them to go through all of the stages again
what is consideration of amendments
When a Bill has passed through third reading in both Houses it is returned to the first House (where it started) for the second House’s amendments (proposals for change) to be considered.
what is royal assent
When a Bill has completed all its parliamentary stages in both Houses, it must have Royal Assent before it can become an Act of Parliament this is the Monarch’s agreement to make the Bill into an Act and is a formality.
What is implementation
Once a bill has received royal assent and it becomes an act of parliament there is a set period of time before it actually becomes law this is so the public can have time to change their lives according to the law
