areas of the earth’s surface which receive less than 25cm of rainfall every year.

sahara desert, where daytime temperatures go up to 50 degrees celsius
what are the main characteristics of a hot desert
few clouds
little rain
very hot days
very cold nights
Climate -
May only rain once every two years. daily range in temperatures are very high
Desert soil -
Soils are very shallow. they have a rough gravelly texture.
Vegetation -
lack of rainfall causes very limited plant growth. plants tend to be short except cacti
Animals.
Mammals are often small and nocturnal. only come out at night when temperatures are low and sleep below the ground during the day.
