Q

What happens when PAMPs and DAMPS are recognised?

A
The cells produce interferons and a wave of infromation is spread out:
TYPE I/III: a/b/gamma
-activates NK cells
-upregulates MHC, Mx proteins
-activates RNase L, PKR (protein kinase R)
-induces anti-viral state
TYPE II: IFNgamma
- proinflammatory
- Th1 cytokine
- “immune interferon”
