Where do Anti diuretic hormones (ADH) come from and what role do they have? What is the effect of this?
From the pituitary gland,
Controls water content
Increases the permeability of the kidney tubules to water.
Where is adrenaline found, what role does it have and how does it effect the body
Comes from the adrenal glands(top of the kidney),
Readies the body for flight or fight response,
Increased heart rate, blood flow to muscled and blood sugar levels.
Where is insulin found what role does it have and how does it effect the body?
Comes from the pancreas,
Helps control the blood sugar level,
Stimulates the liver to turn glucose into glycogen for storage.
Where does testosterone come from what role does it have and how does it effect the body?
Comes from the testes,
It’s role is it is the main male sex hormone,
It promotes male secondary sexual characteristics, e.g facial hair
Progesterone is found where? What is its role and what’s it’s effect on the body?
Comes from the ovaries,
Supports pregnancy,
Maintains the lining of the uterus.
Oestrogen comes from where? What is its role and how does it effect the body?
Comes from the ovaries,
Is the main female sex hormone,
Controls the menstrual cycle and promotors female secondary sexual characteristics e.g widening of hips
