Hormonal Response to Exercise - Chap 5 Flashcards

1
Q

Know how a hormone works (lock and key). How does a hormone know which tissue to act upon?

A

Hormone (epinephrine) will find its receptor in the body that possesses matching stereochemistry “fit”

Q

Describe the importance of blood glucose maintenance during exercise &
how this level is maintained.

A

Brain relies on it as its only nutrient source.

  1. Liver glycogenolysis
  2. Gluconeogenesis
  3. Inhibit glucose entry to muscle
  4. Lipolysis in muscle spares glucose use.
