Q

Neural process

A

When blood is low-Liver sends a signal to the lateral hypothalamus causing neurons to fire which cause hunger. When you eat, glucose enters the blood and detected by the ventromedial hypothalamus causing satiety.

Q

Ghrelin

A

Hormone that causes hunger-secreted by stomach into bloodstream.Detected by hypothalamus, creating hunger. When eating, the stomach stops releasing ghrelin, which then stops hunger.

Q

Leptin

A

Hormone that makes you feel full-secreted by fat cells into bloodstream.Detected by hypothalamus, creating the signal that fat stores are full and you do not need to eat.

Q

A03-APHAGIA AND HYPERPHAGIA

A

Aphagia(inability to eat when food is required) caused by damage to LH.
Hyperphagia(inability to stop eating when full)Caused by damage to vmh.

Q

A03-Animals and Ghrelin

A

Studies have found animals who were injected with ghrelin were found to eat more, however these findings cannot be generalized properly to humans.
