What is a Hominid?
Part of the primate family (Hominidae) includes humans and their fossil ancestors. In simple terms Hominds= Humans
What are the characteristics of a hominid? (3)
They walk upright, meaning they walk on two legs.
They were able to travel distances easily
They had opposable thumbs, which was important because it allowed them to pick up small objects and make tools.
Who is lucy?
A skeleton of an adult female named lucy, found in Ethiopia, was estimated to have lived 3.5 million years ago and was the oldest hominid to date.
What were the first footprints (facts)
In 1978 an archeologist by the name of Mary Leakey led an expedition to Tanzania (Africa) and found footprints that resembled modern Humans.
Where did Homo Sapiens emerge from?
They emerged from East Africa between 100,000-400,00 Years ago
What is another name for Homo Sapien mean?
Wise man (because their head was huge)
Where did Homo Sapiens Migrate from?
They migrated from Africa to Eurasia. Australia and then the Americas.
