this whole piece is a spiteful thing to say as most people really enjoy Christmas and to speak badly about it is not nice

this shows how he has no interest for helping the poor and represents the rich in the Victorian era
“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”
this also shows how anti friendly he is and does not want to help the poor
