Q

What is the function of the effector?

A

To respond to the commands of the control center by either opposing (i.e., negative feedback) or enhancing (i.e., positive feedback) the stimulus

Q

Explain body temp regulation (i.e., negative feedback) in terms of receptor, control center, and effector.

A

Receptor - in response to cold temps, arrector pili muscles contract, causing goosebumps

Control center - hypothalamus recognizes cold temps/drop in body temp and initiates response to combat them

Effector - body starts shivering to maintain body heat
