Q

Describe the endocrine system

A

It is a ductless system that uses hormones as messengers. The endocrine glands excrete the hormones directly into the bloodstream to perform on the target organ.

Q

What is a negative feedback response?

A

When the body senses an unbalance, a negative feedback loop kicks in to reduce/cancel out the stimulus to stablize the body. (i.e when glucose levels rise, the negative feedback response is the secretion of insulin to stablize it again.)

Q

Order of the negative feedback loop?

A
  1. Stimulus (receptors detect change)
  2. Receptors message the control centre
  3. Control centre messeges the effectors
  4. Effectors perform the correct actions.
