Joel 2:28-30 - “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. What is a Biblical example of how the Holy Spirit is the source of justice?
Isaiah 11:1-5 -
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit/ The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, mor decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
The Holy Spirit in the New Testament…
Bestows the divine presence, creates new life, indwells us, justifies/sanctifies/glorifies, unites in diversity, enables communication, aids prayer/praise, endows gifts, pours out love, instills hope, equips Christians for service, makes peace not war
How does the Holy Spirit bestow the divine presence?
- We are a Temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16)
- God’s presence is bestowed upon us when we become Christians (Acts 2:38)
How does the Holy Spirit create new life?
Jesus shares with Nicodemus about being “born of… the Spirit” (John 3:5). This gives people new life in the Kingdom of God.
How does the Holy Spirit indwell us?
We are clothed in Christ through the Spirit (Galatians 3:27?)
