What does ISO 9000 family of standards do?
provide guidelines and tools to ensure that products and services consistently meet the expectation of the customer and to ensure that quality is continually improved.
What is the history of ISO 9000?
- Pressure for standards from military after WWII
- This led to MOD ‘05’ and NATO ‘AQAS’ series of standards
- These were combined into BS 5750:Parts 1,2,3(1979)
- In 1987 the quality standard ISO 9000 was formally adopted throughout Europe and the US as the basis for quality systems.
