Through using legal methods to mask his illegal methods. Hitler was illegally getting rid of opponents and assassinating them through the SS and having violent campaigns.
placed as chancellor and Hindenburg died he used Article 48 to pass the Reichstag Fire Decree which allowed him to rid the communists who were blamed for the fire. He then passed the enabling act which meant he had supreme power

How were living standards improved in Germany?
Workers rights were protected by DAF.
Strength through Joy programme gave subsidized holidays and leisure activities.
What were the key features of the Nazi government?
Leadership - Further controlled Germany and was the leader of the nation.
Decision Making - Loyal Nazi’s in charge and made ministers work individually to compete.
Administration - Civil service operating with Nazi ideology
One Nation - German people made to work in unity
Control - Gestapo + SS used to establish control and torture or kill opposition, sent to concentration camps and held without trials.
Censorship - Minister of Propaganda Goebbels made sure nothing against the 3rd reich was established and law was passed to editors had to make sure of this.
Repression - Concentration camps ran by SS. People’s court set up that trialed traitors and they were judged by Nazi members. Any attempt to go against them would result in death or imprisonment evident through the white rose group.
What was the opposition and dissent in Nazi Germany?
Anti - Nazi Campaigns - Anti nazi literature published, but Gestapo would arrest leaders.
White rose group published leaflets. Leaders assassinated
Sabotage - Workers sabotaged the Nazis. Lighting strikes and sabotaged production of work.
Disobedience - Young people did not join the Hitler youth. They dressed in clothes similar to the west. Nazis made occasional arrests, but left them alone.
Attempts to assassinate Hitler - Army made several attempts and these people were assassinated. Bomb to kill Hitler in 1944 it exploded, however Hitler survived.

SS men eliminated the SA in an attempt consolidate their power in Germany and to rid opposition e.g. the SA leader rohm . It was a treacherous betrayal
Ethnic Minorities in Nazi Germany?
Aryan race created as a superior race. There was sterilisation of Jews and other minorities. 400,00 were sterilised against their will . Propaganda was anti semitic and they worked towards the final solution. Legal separation of Jews by jobs and public spaces. Nuremberg laws excluded Jews from areas of life. Night of the Broken Glass Kristallnacht was the first large scale organised attack on Jews. 260 synagogues were burned down and 20,000 Jews were arrested and later charged 1 billion for repairs which never took place.
Women in Nazi Germany?
Nazi’s adopted the slogan - Children,Kitchen and Church to give woman a familiar feel. They wanted women at home. Reichstag kept women away and they had their own organisation, German Women’s Enterprise
SS men encouraged to mate with as many pure woman
Women were expected to be content with their natural responsibilities of nurturing offspring. Women were not allowed in any positions of power or authority. They had to dress modestly and not smoke and no make up and were discouraged not to be thin.
