The Soviet Union Definition
In 1922; Russia, Belarus and Transcaucasia ( Modern Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan) formed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)

What was The Great Terror?
A brutal political campaign that executed 750,000 people and sent more that 1 million other people to Gulags. This was because Stalin considered these people a political threat.
What were The Purges?
Also called the purge trials, three public show trials, and a series of closed trials, held for opponents of Stalin, found guilty of treason. They were held in the USSR in the late 1930s.
Gulags Definition
Similar to a prison, where people were forced to work.
Cult of Personality Definition (Stalin)
A propaganda method used by Stalin to portray himself as the heir to Lenin, the sole leader and father figure to the Soviet Union.
Communism Definition
A political (left wing) ideology based on the idea of rule by the people.

A member of the Russian Social - Democratic Workers Party.
